The Monterey Peninsula Pride Center recently sounded the alarm on their Instagram that the City of Monterey is incorporating blatant transphobia into their Annual Action Plan, citing an Executive Order as justification. Executive Orders are NOT law, there is no legal obligation for the City of Monterey to comply with it. We can not let them perpetuate this violence under the guise of lawfulness, call them out for what it is: rolling over for a fascistic regime instead of standing up for vulnerable community members.
What can you do?
Per The Monterey Peninsula Pride Center's post:

In Solidarity,
Roots of Resistance

Roots of Resistance is a community-led movement that emerges in defiance of rising fascism, systemic racism, and the dominance of the 1%. We firmly believe that knowledge belongs to the people, not just the privileged few. Through our initiative, The Resistance Classroom, we foster community empowerment by creating accessible spaces where individuals can engage in liberation education, learn, organize, and resist together. We advocate for the futures of Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, and LGBTQ+ individuals, ensuring that justice, dignity, and freedom are not merely aspirations but guaranteed rights. Knowledge is Liberation. Resistance is Power.
A grassroots movement focused on community empowerment, fighting racism, fascism, elitism, and colonialism through liberation education, protest, and solidarity, embodying the Roots of Resistance.
